The St. Anne religious education program offers enrollment to new students throughout the year in most classes, and advances continuing student at the start of each fall, typically coinciding with and following the local school district’s calendar.
Each class session is facilitated by two or more volunteer catechists, and includes prayer, teaching, discussion, and faith-sharing. Our parish offers classes for students in Pre-Kindergarten (age 4) through Confirmation. Continuing faith learning opportunities exist through the parish high school youth group.
Our program is a Christ centered approach to sharing our Roman Catholic faith. We attempt at all times to maintain an atmosphere of warmth, openness, and camaraderie. We get to know each other, begin discussion and faith-sharing about Jesus, and together we learn the basic tenets of the Faith regarding the importance of Christ-centered individuals, families, and church communities.
The Diocese of Savannah maintains ongoing development of guidelines for religious education and we follow a traditional curriculum that is aligned with the working models currently in place. By doing so, we are hoping to provide the youngest members of our faith community with a solid, traditional and more practical foundation in Catholic prayer life, and to promote better understanding of, and therefore better participation in, Holy Mass.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (often abbreviated RCIA) is the process through which interested adults are gradually introduced to the Roman Catholic faith and way of life.RCIA is a communal process and involves a number of stages punctuated by liturgical rites to aid and assist the potential convert toward the final rite at the Easter Vigil, at which time they will become full members of the Roman Catholic Church. The entire process takes several months, but participants are invited to proceed at a pace which suits them individually.
