RCIT stands for which of the following:
A. Radioactive Commodity Identification and Transportation
B. Royal Canadian Institute of Technology
C. Red Cell Iron Turnover
D. Regional Commisioner of Income Tax
Actually… all of the above, but it also describes:
RCIT (Rite of Christian Initiation for Teens), a confirmation program for teens that may also not have been Baptized or may have not received the sacraments of first Eucharist or first Reconciliation. This program explains our Catholic beliefs and practices, and studies Scripture in an appealing way for those exploring their faith for the first time or in a new, deeper way than they ever have before!
What will we do at RCIT?
In our RCIT program we will cover a HUGE amount of information- ranging from What is a sacrament? to How can I really KNOW that Jesus is “real”? These questions will be answered by reading our class material (a pamphlet handout per subject), discussing with our peers and adult leaders, and…prayer. Oh yeah- and get prepared to make some holiness “happen” through the sacraments!
Yes, there will be some “homework”- all students who will be confirmed will write a letter to the Bishop of Savannah, our class will participate in at least one REQUIRED group service project, and the RCIT class will attend a couple of special Masses and liturgies both at our parish home and at the Cathedral of St. John The Baptist in Savannah- the “seat” for our Bishop.
