2026 Crusade for Human LiberationYou are invited to participate in the Crusade for Human Liberation, which is meant
for those who would like to help themselves and others through a commitment
to sobriety for at least one year.
Signing the CHL declaration means committing to membership for the duration of one year to the following promises:- Maintain voluntary and complete abstinence from all alcoholic beverages
- Do not offer alcohol to anyone
- Do not spend money on purchasing alcoholic beverages
If you are at least 18 years old and struggling with alcohol or other substances,
or if you would like to offer your sobriety for those who struggle, please contact

Fr. Dawid will be available to sign the CHL commitments on December 31 after the 7:00pm Mass and on January 1 after the 10:30am Mass in the sacristy. -

History of the CHL
‘Oppose everything that conflicts with human dignity and degrades the morals of a healthy society, that may sometimes threaten its very existence and the common good, that may diminish our contribution to the common heritage of humanity, of Christian nations, of the Church of Christ.’

In response to this appeal of St. John Paul II, Fr. Francis Blachnicki and the Life-Light Movement brought into being the Crusade for Human Liberation (the first name used was the Crusade for the Liberation of Man). The Crusade was proclaimed in the presence of the Holy Father; it was offered to him and blessed by him during his first pilgrimage to Poland on June 8, 1979.The Crusade for Human Liberation realizes its aim by creating a group of people who are ready to engage in a spiritual battle for the ‘holy land’, that is, each person saved by Christ. The word ‘crusade’ points to the cross as an effective sign of utter victory over evil of any kind. In order to enter the mystery of the cross, we have to overcome fear, that is why liberation from fear constitutes the main task of the Crusade. In the struggle for genuine freedom, the Crusade for Human Liberation follows the guidance of Jesus, who pointed to praying and fasting as the two powerful weapons to conquer evil. The Crusade members decide to fast in a special way, i.e., they do not drink any alcohol, and they also pray for those who need liberation from any kind of enslavement.
Abstinence from alcohol constitutes a personal gift, made voluntarily because of love and responsibility for another person. -
The Importance of Abstinence
Abstinence from alcohol in the Crusade for Human Liberation is a personal gift, undertaken voluntarily out of love and responsibility for the good of others. For Crusade members, abstinence means:
- an act of personal freedom
- compensation for the sins of drunkenness
- an expression of love for addicted people for whom complete abstinence is the only condition for sobriety
- an effective means of changing customs
- a way of working on yourself and shaping your character
- an important preventive and educational measure
- a sign of love for the homeland

Prayer for the success of the Crusade and the candidates undertaking the mission of human liberation:
Immaculate, Mother of the Church! Looking at you as a model of a fully redeemed and liberated person, and therefore infinitely devoted to Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit, we become aware of the manifold slavery in which our hearts are entangled.We desire to fully liberate ourselves and give a hand to our brothers waiting for the freedom of their sons of God to be revealed in them, we draw closer to You and surrender ourselves to You, so that together with You, by the power of the same Spirit who without obstacles worked in you, experience more fully freedom in surrendering ourselves to Christ and through Him to the Father.
We place in Your hands the promise of abstinence from alcohol (and other substances) and the decision to become completely independent from it so that we can liberate with our freedom our brothers and sisters who can no longer free themselves on their own. We want to give, through this act of love, a helping hand and serve our neighbor like Christ who with love for us, humbled himself and took the form of a slave.
